South African Hip Hop Star Revitalizes Arthur Mafokate Hit Mnike

South African born and bred hip hop artist who formerly braced our radios and television platforms making us dance whilst he inspired the youth in the townships of South Africa, is about to make history again.

Siyabulela “Kweriez” Rasmeni has just finished working on his latest album offering titled Rewind. Rewind is an album that came after the hip-hop artist took a long break from the music industry to focus on his calling as a Sangoma.   The brand new single release is MNIKE – using a sample from the Kwaito king himself ‘Arthur Mafokate’ and fused with Kweriez unique style and sound.

Kweriez on this album reminds his die-hard supporters of the good old days when South Africa was still dancing to some of his hit singles such as Hip Kwaito, Jozi Life and Mob Justice.  The kasi hip hop legend is able to achieve this old school but relevant sound through fusing and re-making some of his classic songs as well as other South African old school music with a little bit of the new hip hop flavour. Kweriez on this third album instalment works with a combination of young, fresh and very talented local hip hop artists, producers and beat-makers that have not yet been discovered.

He also features artists that were once familiar household names when it comes to the music industry such as Luzuko “Louriginal” Ngqayile and Lungisile “Lush bytheway” Mdunyelwa (to mention a few) to help him come up with this new South African hip hop kasi flavour that has not yet been explored.

Rewind is the album that proves the longevity of Kweriez as an artist and how he has grown thus realising the importance of quality with regards to his lyrical content, song mastering and the instrumentals. He also uses his street credibility when it comes to his music to also inspire young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to dream big and pursue their dreams so that they can change their current circumstances and stay away from crime and drugs.
